News: Raleigh Luncheon Focuses on Health Benefits of Clean Energy

North Carolina citizens gathered in Raleigh at the state’s Museum of Natural History on April 7 to better understand the health benefits of clean, renewable energy. The event, co- hosted by M&O and Moms Clean Air Force of N.C., featured M&O volunteer Dr. Jennifer Caicedo, a Charlotte allergist, Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, a world-renowned climate scientist, and local meteorologist, Greg Fishel. Dr. Caicedo spoke of the effects air quality and climate change have on her patients’ health. Dr. Hayhoe explained how the scientific evidence of climate change fits within her evangelical Christian religious views in that as a Christian, she believes she is charged to care for the Earth. Mr. Fishel, a former climate change unbeliever, explained that he has seen the evidence of a changing climate in weather events.
